This Special Meeting was called to discuss
the termite damage discovered at the Swimming
Pool Building and Ramada Area as well as
at the Tennis Court.
Max Perry called the Board of Directors meeting
to order at 3:35 PM.
Max described the damage to the common wall
between the ladies bath room and the pump
room at the pool as well as the area at the
Ramada where the shuffleboard supplies are
stored. The damage at the Tennis Court is
at the wooden screen wall on the SW corner
of the building. Estimates to treat this
damage from Bills Home Service are $1,005
for the Pool area and $780 for the Tennis
Court area. The contract with Bills Home
Service had expired for lack of a bill being
sent for renewal.
Max stated that he and Tom Cooke were going
to contact Bills Home Service to determine
if we had any recourse regarding the lapsed
contract.
An alternative to annual termite treatment
was offered, which was to replace the wooden
walls with block. Prior meetings with Miquel
Lopez had produced estimates for block walls
of $480 for the Pool and $580 for the Tennis
Court. A discussion followed after which
the following motion was made by Ben Sheffield
and seconded by Steve Brown that we hire
Miquel to do the proposed block work with
a budget limit of $1500. The vote was called
and the motion carried. Work is to begin
on April 11 th and be finished by April 18th.
A proposed plan to extend the storage building
at the pool that is being used for archives
and pool supplies to include an area for
Hospitality and Shuffleboard was distributed
and explained. (copy attached) The expanded
building would be made from block to match
the existing style with steed doors and should
be a less desirable target for termites.
A discussion followed evaluating the merits
of this proposal as well as the need to update
the bath rooms at the pool. Additional bids
for the carpentry work on the proposed storage
area are forthcoming and bids to update the
bath rooms will be obtained. We have obtained
a bid from Miquel to erect the block walls
for the expanded storage which will also
require a footing and concrete slab for the
floor.
It was moved by Ben and seconded by Ken that
we be authorized to hire Miquel to construct
the footings, floor and block walls with
a maximum budget of $1,000. The vote was
called and the motion carried.
At 4:30PM it was moved by Ben
and seconded by Norma that the meeting be
adjourned. The vote was called and the motion
carried.
