President's Report--Max Perry, President

I want to begin by welcoming back all our neighbors who have been gone for the holidays and any who have come to spend the rest of the winter in Esperanza Estates. It's good to have everyone here.

The 28th Annual Meeting was held on January 16 and the attendance was wonderful. Well over 100 members turned out. Of the 351 separate lots in Esperanza Estates, a total of 216 homeowners cast ballots in the two issues to be decided. In the Board election the results were Ken Miller 174, Gary Chelseth 170, Joan Moreaux 148, Kathy Babcock 81 and Sig Friedman 77.

I want to congratulate Ken and Gary for retaining their seats and welcome Joan to the Board. I also want to thank Kathy and Sig for their interest in the betterment of Esperanza Estates and encourage their continued involvement in the Association. This was a very well qualified group of candidates this year.

After the Annual meeting, the Board held an organizational meeting to elect officers. I want to thank my fellow Board members for electing me president for another year and showing their confidence in me. It is my honor to serve the Association. Tom Cooke was chosen vice president and Sheila Bennen was reelected secretary/treasurer. In committee assignments, Gary Chelseth will take over Recreation Facilities from the departing Bruce Liljegren and Joan Moreaux will assume the chair of Neighborhood Relations. After four years, Norma Stanley chose to relinquish that post. I want to thank both Bruce and Norma for their hard work and dedication. Both positions are very demanding. Ken Miller will be chair of the Common Area Maintenance committee with Tom serving as his assistant. Ken filled in for Tom for part of 2005 and did a tremendous job. The remainder of the committee assignments were unchanged.

In the second issue to be decided, the proposed changes in the parking regulations in the CC&Rs, the final total was 185 yes and 31 no votes. It takes 51% of the 351 lots or 179 yes votes to change the CC&Rs. The new language will now be forwarded to our attorney in Tucson for recording at Pima County and will then become effective. I firmly believe that these are positive changes and will lead to less confusion and easier compliance for everyone.

The remainder of the meeting was completed smoothly. Several committees reported their activities for 2005 and offered plans for 2006. Without exception we have highly qualified and motivated leaders and volunteers in each activity. It makes my job much easier and I truly appreciate all their efforts. 2006 promises to be a successful and exciting year and I'm looking forward to everyone working hard to keep Esperanza Estates the best neighborhood in Green Valley.

Enhancement Committee - By Tess Ewing

Our garage sale is coming up on January 28, at 8:00 am at 758 Ensalmo (the Ellingsons). Bev Brow, the organizer, said it's going to be one of our best ever -- with everything from furniture and small appliances to household and patio items. It's not too late to donate to this fund raiser. Call for pick up:
Bev - 625-7741 Jane - 625-7782 Mary - 393-7499

Don't forget Sheila Bennen and Melodye Cooke will be offering coffee and muffins at the Ramada during the garage sale. They need volunteers to: (1) bake muffins - your recipe or mix will be supplied; (2) make cookies or bread; (3) donate fruit from your tree (we will pick for you if you want). Call:
Sheila - 399-0501 or Melodye -399-0455

Marvol Barnard is organizing a fun event for March 1 -- the EE Golf Tournament. Even if you have already indicated you would like to play, she needs a call from you to confirm this and she needs to know your handicap. Call Marvol - 648-5925

We are planning to hold our annual auction in early March. Wondering why all the fund raisers?? Thanks to all your support of our functions, $10,000 was spent bricking the Ramada and installing cabinets and purchasing patio tables and chairs. A much neglected area was turned into Sunset Park. With pending changes to our Ramada, we are anticipating the need for more patio furniture, etc. Because of the very creative and energetic hospitality committees (the former and present), our Ramada is a very active gathering place to enjoy good food and meet friends.

Advertisements - By Sheila Bennen

The cost structure is as follows:

Common Areas Report -By Ken Miller & Tom Cooke, Chairs

It is sometimes helpful in considering our common areas to know that they consist of approximately 22 acres in EE, and their proper upkeep demands a good portion of our annual budget. This being the case, we are pleased to be able to report that the status of the common areas is good.
Over the past five years, we have made many, improvements. These would include repainting of common area permanent structures, expansion of social areas, re-graveling, wash and alleyway improvements, trail construction, and a lot of just general upgrading to various areas.
This past year we finished spreading approximately 200 additional yards of gravel, rebuilt a small common area on lower Napa, finished our trail through Whigham Wash and along portions of Arroyo No. 9, and did a lot of work in the Bridge Park Wash. This, of course, in addition to the regular subdivision maintenance that is ongoing every week. We think EE looks pretty good.
Please remember we rely upon each of you to report problems needing attention in the common areas to us. We try and get around as much as possible, but we certainly miss things. We ask for your help in this regard, and between all of us, we can keep our subdivision looking as good as we want it to. You can call either 393 1914, or 399 0455 for any report.

Ken Miller will be assuming primary responsibility for the common areas for the coming year, with Tom Cooke to act as assistant. Either will be glad to assist you with problems or questions.

Hospitality Committee By Sam Barnard -Co-Chairman

This month's hospitality event was held on January 10th at the Pool Ramada. our Hospitality committee members cooked both Vegetarian and Beef Chile, along with Corn bread and all the condiments. We again had a large attendance and served 128 residents and their guests. We were very happy to get to see and visit with our neighbors and friends and especially glad to see that their appetites are in good order, as everything eatable simply vanished.

On Tuesday, February the 14th (Valentines Day) we are planning a Free Valentines Day Happy hour / appetizer Party. We will have drinks, cheese, meat snacks, veggie snacks and a Special Valentines Day cake. We will serve between 4 and 5 P.M. This will still allow you time to take your favorite Valentine out to dinner! So please stop by and visit with us.

Your Hospitality team members have planned this special Valentines Day Social for you because we just LOVE having your support and participation at all of our events.
